English A Essay – Hangings Are An Adequate Form of Crime Prevention – Against

Hangings are cruel and unusual punishment. This is the opinion of many a human rights advocate, who clamor for fair punishment for crimes, and are completely against capital punishment. This essay will argue against the titular phrase, and put forth the idea that hangings aren’t an adequate form of crime prevention.

Hangings are a terrible form of crime prevention. Fear isn’t an effective way of dissuading persons from adopting a life of crime. Fear of punishment doesn’t stop school children from disobeying teachers. Fear of punishment doesn’t stop little crimes. And fear of punishment definitely doesn’t stop big crimes. Capital punishment is usually reserved for what society deems the most heinous crimes. Taking one’s life oftentimes equals the offender’s life being taken. But if one is to look at the statistics, hanging persons has not lessened or stopped the more gruesome times from taking place. In fact, the incidence of crimes has only increased and worsened in severity. One can argue that hangings cause worse crimes to take place. Therefore, hangings aren’t an appropriate way to prevent crime.

In conclusion, crime cannot be stopped by implementing hangings. Crimes still happen when capital punishment exists, and prove that hangings aren’t an effective form of crime prevention.
