A narrative essay is a type of writing that tells a story. It usually is told from a first-person point of view. It aims to capture the reader’s attention by sharing a meaningful series of events. The narrative essay typically follows a chronological order. The writer uses vivid imagery and sensory descriptions to make the story come alive. A narrative essay should be memorable. It should let the reader walk away with something to think about, a lesson, a realization or maybe a memorable moment. It typically contains setting, characters, plot, conflict and a conclusion.
