What Can I Add to my Essay Conclusion?

Written by

This is another question that plagues many an essay writer, what to include in their conclusion to wrap things up. I have put together a paragraph on what should be included in the final paragraph of your essay. This note can be used in your CSEC prep/ CXC prep, to ensure that you are successful in your essay writing portion of your exams. Please see the note below.

A conclusion should effectively summarize the main points of your essay while reinforcing your thesis. It’s your final opportunity to leave a lasting impression on the reader.

In your conclusion, restate your main argument in a fresh way, briefly summarize the key supporting points discussed in your body paragraphs, and highlight why your argument matters. You can also reflect on the broader significance of your topic or suggest possible future developments, actions, or questions for further thought. This helps give your essay a sense of closure while keeping the reader engaged. A good conclusion might include a call to action, a powerful quote, or a rhetorical question that encourages deeper reflection. Be careful not to introduce any new evidence or arguments at this stage—focus on tying everything together in a clear and convincing way. Ultimately, your conclusion should make your reader feel like your essay was both meaningful and complete.
