When you connect words, phrases, or clauses in a sentence, they should follow the same grammatical pattern. This is called parallelism or parallel structure, and it makes writing clearer and smoother. Some examples of parallel structure are found below.

She enjoys reading, writing, and drawing.

He wanted to learn, to travel, and to grow.

Not only did she bake a cake, but she also decorated it.
