In grammar, an object is the part of a sentence that receives the action of the verb. It usually comes after the verb and answers the question “what?” or “whom?”
Types of objects:
- Direct Object – receives the action directly.
- Indirect Object – receives the direct object.
Example with a direct object:
Sentence: She reads a book.
- Verb: reads
- What does she read? → a book
- “a book” is the direct object.
Example with an indirect object:
Sentence: He gave his friend a gift.
- Verb: gave
- What did he give? → a gift (direct object)
- To whom did he give it? → his friend (indirect object)
So those were some examples of objects in sentences. I hope all writers use this tip in their CXC prep/ CSEC prep.
