Possession indicates belonging. There are three ways to show possession in English.

Use an apostrophe + “s” (‘s)

This shows that something belongs to someone or something.

Example:
Maria’s book
→ The book belongs to Maria.

2. Use just an apostrophe (’) after plural nouns that already end in “s”

Example:
The teachers’ lounge
→ The lounge belongs to the teachers.

3. Use “of” to show possession with non-living things or longer phrases

Example:
The legs of the table
→ The table’s legs (both are correct, but “of” is more natural for objects)

So there you go. I hope all writers use this tip in their CXC prep / CSEC prep.
