A full stop (also known as a period in American English) is a punctuation mark used to indicate the end of a complete sentence. An example of a full stop is enclosed in brackets (.)

🔍 Purpose of a Full Stop:

It shows that:

  • The sentence is complete.
  • A new idea or thought may follow.
  • The reader should pause.

✏️ Example:

Incorrect:
I went to the market I bought bananas

Correct (with full stop):
I went to the market. I bought bananas.

Each sentence has a subject and a verb, and the full stop shows where one thought ends and another begins.

Okay. Now go ahead and place your full stops correctly in your essays. I hope all readers use this tip in their CXC prep/ CSEC prep.
