📌 Pun

Definition:
A pun is a form of wordplay that exploits multiple meanings of a word—or similar-sounding words—for a humorous or rhetorical effect.

Puns are often witty, playful, and sometimes groan-worthy!

Example:

“Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana.”

  • The first “flies” is a verb (time flies = time passes quickly).
  • The second “flies” is a noun (fruit flies = small insects).
  • It plays on the double meaning of “flies.”

🎯 More Quick Examples:

  • “I used to be a baker, but I couldn’t make enough dough.”
“Dough” = bread mixture and money.
  • “A boiled egg every morning is hard to beat.”
“Hard to beat” = difficult to surpass & literally hard-boiled.
  • “No matter how much you push the envelope, it’ll still be stationery.”
“Stationery” = paper products; also plays on “stationary” = not moving.

And there you go! So go ahead and use puns in your CXC prep/ CSEC prep.
