📌 Asyndeton
Definition:
Asyndeton is a literary device in which conjunctions (like and, or, but) are deliberately omitted from a series of words, phrases, or clauses.
It creates a fast-paced, dramatic, or urgent effect.
✅ Example:
“I came, I saw, I conquered.”
— Julius Caesar
- Notice there are no conjunctions between the phrases—this gives it a punchy, powerful rhythm.
🎯 More Examples:
- “She ran, jumped, spun, danced.”
- “He was a bag of bones, a floppy doll, a broken stick, a man gone mad.” – Jeanette Winterson
- “Duty, honor, country.”
✨ Effect:
- Speeds up the rhythm
- Adds drama or intensity
- Makes the list feel blunt, confident, or forceful
