Ploce is a rhetorical device that involves the repetition of a word or phrase to emphasize its meaning or to create a stylistic effect — but with a word used again after some distance or in a slightly different sense or context.

Definition:
The repetition of a word for emphasis or clarity, often separated by other words, and sometimes with a change in meaning or grammatical function.

Example:

“Make war upon themselves—brother to brother,
Blood to blood, self against self.”
William Shakespeare, Richard III

Another simple example:

“I am that I am.” — The Bible
Here, “I am” is repeated, but the second use deepens the meaning rather than merely echoing it.

Or an original example:

“A friend is always a friend, even when the world turns cold.”

And there it is! Now go ahead and use ploce in your CXC prep/CSEC prep.
