“Youth” is a term that covers all persons under the age of 25. Life is hard. Life is ever changing. Not everyone gets it all in one go. The youth of today are lost. They do not have it all together. Many persons believe that young people not excelling in life is their parents’ fault. In this essay, I shall argue in favor of this statement, that parents are indeed to blame for their young people’s lost state.
Parents are at fault for their young people being lost in life because they are the ones who teach or don’t teach appropriate life lessons. When you become a parent, you sign up to guide your offspring. It is understood that parents, the ones older than the children have knowledge to pass on to them, and can guide them through life accordingly. So it is most definitely the parents’ fault when their youth don’t do well in life. When we see instances of persons committing crimes and being incarcerated, we should blame their parents. When we see persons strung out on drugs that hampers their productivity, we are to place fault at the feet of their parents. For a child to not succeed in life is due to a parent neglecting their divine responsibility to guide them correctly.
Parents are to be blamed for their youth being lost because they administer punishment or don’t administer punishment for bad behavior as necessary to keep their kids in line. “Spare the rod and spoil the child.” It is a popular Bible verse that has stood the test of time because it is true. Children need correction in order to make it through life successfully. Some parents do not believe in punishment. And this leads to their children being lost in life. With no boundaries in place, children do the most. They don’t develop good work ethic, which is essential for survival in our capitalist landscape. Without rules being drilled into young people, they have no direction in life, and may end up on social security, draining the pocket of the taxpayer, when they are very able bodied and able to work and support themselves. To see a young person lost in life is to see a child that was not properly disciplined by their parents.
In conclusion, lost youth is due to bad parenting. When parents don’t teach the appropriate life skills to their kids, they end up lost in life. When parents don’t discipline their kids as necessary, they end up lost in life. All in all, failure as a parent equals lost youth.
