English A Essay – Watching Television is a Better Way for Children to Learn than Reading – For

There is no one way to learn. There is no best way to learn. People learn in different ways. There is a modern mode of thinking that says that the television is a better teaching tool than actual books. This essay will argue in favor of this thought, that the television indeed is a better way for children to learn than reading.

The television is the better way to teach children, when compared to reading. The television is visual. It has colorful moving pictures, which are sure to capture young children’s attention. Books have flat print on pages, and not all books have pictures in color. Books would not win in a competition of which medium is more attention grabbing between them and the television. The TV also has audio. Songs are catchy, and some hooks remain with the listener. Some students can learn faster when they sing an acronym or a verb conjugation, as opposed to reading and memorizing facts on a book’s page. The television in this case would be the superior choice for instructing children, as opposed to using books.

In conclusion, television is better than books when teaching children. The television has colorful videos and catchy audios that appeal to children, catch and keep their attention, which is helpful in education. Books lack these advantages and are the inferior instructional choice as compared to the television.
