English A Essay – Hangings Are An Adequate Form of Crime Prevention – For

Policing is a necessary evil. There is a lot of discourse around whether or not we should have punitive forms of punishment when persons commit crimes. Hangings have been one extreme form of corrective punishment, where the state decides to end a declared criminal’s life. In the midst of all of the arguments around this topic, this essay seeks to argue in favor of this idea, that hangings are indeed an adequate form of crime prevention.

Hangings are an appropriate form of crime prevention because of its extreme nature. Not all crimes deserve a slap on the wrist. Some crimes deserve a punishment that fits the act committed. Incarceration or fines aren’t enough to deter others from taking up a life of crime. Punishment isn’t only for the offender. It is also for the spectator. To see a human being once here and now not, shoved from this mortal coil via the noose does a lot to dissuade a burgeoning criminal from following in the now deceased criminal’s past. Hanging while gruesome does serve its purpose to prevent future crimes from happening, and is a viable crime prevention method.

In conclusion, hangings are an adequate way to prevent crimes from happening. They are a visual representation of the possible severe consequences of becoming a criminal, and do well in the deterring of criminal activity.
