Men and women are not equal. Physical differences aside, men and women are not on the same level on any level in society. The various waves of feminism would have persons believe that women have not only caught up to men but have surpassed them in society. This isn’t the case. This essay shall argue against the titular phrase and put forth the idea that women have not surpassed men in society.

Women have not overtaken men because men hold the majority of wealth in the world. Statistics do support the previous point. Men own more land than women as a whole. Men own more of the share of businesses than women. Men possess more of the world’s money than women. When all of these benefits are combined, it means that men hold more of the world’s power when compared to women. More money, land and wealth means more ability to impact their surroundings. Men use their power to create laws that favor their gender over women. Men create laws that affect women’s bodily autonomy, which limits female power. Women are often burdened with childcare. Their time, effort and money is diminished when they have children. Men and their misandrist laws ensure that women are distracted and harness less power than they do.

To summarize, women have not surpassed men in society. Men own more of the land, money and businesses than their female counterparts, which translates into more power in society.
