Parents and children come from different generations. Between these two groups, one can have two or sometimes more generations. Misunderstandings are bound to happen with such a large age gap. This essay will argue in favor of the idea that parents and children do not understand each other.
Parents and children do not understand each other because they both literally speak different languages. Anyone who listens to two separate conversations between a pair of Boomers and a pair of Gen Zers will realize that they speak different languages. Even the different popular dictionaries have to keep up with the new words being added to common language on an annual basis. So multiply changes in language over twenty years, and sometimes more and what do you get? You get two sets of persons, parent and child who intend to communicate, but find difficulty because of differences in speech. Parents and children don’t understand each other.
To conclude, parents and children do not understand each other. Both sets have different ways of speaking that are influenced by their generation that makes communication between both groups difficult.
