What is a teacher? A teacher is an adult charged with the responsibility of educating students. Some persons complain that teachers perform too many roles at school when they are asked to complete tasks outside of this narrow definition of their role. This essay will argue against the titular phrase, and say that teachers do not perform too many roles at school.
Teachers definitely do not perform too many roles at school. If one were to quantify the amount of time teachers spend doing non teacher related things, the number would be minute, very insignificant. Yes, it is true that teachers counsel students on occasion, but the majority of their time is not spent on duties outside of their purview. If a teacher spends 10 minutes speaking to a child, that is peanuts compared to the six and a half overall hours of active time they spend teaching. Teachers spend the majority of their time teaching, as they are paid to do. Teachers definitely do not perform too many roles at school.
In conclusion, teachers do not perform too many tasks at school. Teachers do a variety of tasks, some tasks that are not explicitly outlined in their job specifications, but they are not overburdened at school as they still manage to teach while performing extra duties.
