English A Essay – Governments Can Decide What a Student Studies if They Pay Their Tuition – For

Money does not grow on trees. Money invested in a student’s education should be money well spent. Many persons are in agreement that if a government sponsors a student’s education that they can have a say in what they study, and this is indeed the right way to think.

The person who holds the money usually makes the decisions. This is true in a business, a family and in the government. A government knows where it needs more qualified manpower. It would know whether we need more doctors, lawyers or engineers. Instead of hiring expensive outside talent that may leave after their contract is up, a better investment would be to educate locals who can settle here and work for decades, turning their job into their long-term career. A government may take the executive decision to choose which degrees get sponsorship in the public dime for the overall good of the country. This isn’t controlling. This isn’t unfair. This is governance at work.

To summarize, a government may choose which areas receive scholarship funding. It is in its best interest to fill vacancies with qualified and educated personnel, and electing which areas are of importance is fair and just.
