The Caribbean includes all territories touched by the Caribbean Sea. The Caribbean as a region is often viewed as one entity, just as Europe is looked at as one territory versus scrutinized by country. Whenever the Caribbean is entering competitions, the region should put forth one team instead of a team from each Caribbean country. This essay shall argue in favor of the idea that the Caribbean should have one team to represent the region.
With regional integration being the future of the Caribbean, it makes sense that the region put one team forward to represent the territory. Regional integration in the Caribbean highlights the region’s desire to appear more united on the international stage. It includes having one common currency, free flow of passage of Caribbean nationals among countries and the right for any Caribbean person to settle anywhere in the Caribbean. This also means that the Caribbean would have one representative at international meetings like the United Nations and the like. It stands to reason that putting forth one Caribbean team for any competition would strengthen this image of one Caribbean. Therefore, Caribbean countries should have one Caribbean team of competitors when representing the region in any competition.
In conclusion, the Caribbean should have one sole group of representatives when participating in events. This would bolster their efforts to appear as one body on the way to integration of the region.
