It takes a village to raise a child. Children are not brought up in a vacuum. Many persons have a hand in creating one successful adult. Governments step in and fill the blanks where parents cannot. The School Feeding Program is one such program to help nourish hungry young tummies. This essay shall argue in favor of the School Feeding Program, that it is not wasteful.
Governments can use the School Feeding Program to invest in their future. The only way to get older people is to bring up young people. People need three square meals a day to be healthy. In the cases where parents cannot adequately provide for these needs, the government can. In Trinidad and Tobago schools, the government ensures that the underprivileged receive a healthy breakfast and lunch on Mondays through Fridays. This program can never be a waste because well fed students today equals doctors, lawyers and engineers tomorrow. Without the School Feeding Program, there is no succession planning for the occupying of jobs in the future, and can lead to the instability of the country. Therefore, it is not wasteful to provide food for less fortunate students.
To conclude, the government providing meals to students without enough food is not wasteful. It is an investment into the future of the citizenry and the country.
