English A Essay – The Arts Should Be Removed from the School Curriculum – Against

Life isn’t only about science, technology, engineering and mathematics. There is way more to do in society than solve math equations, while designing a new robot that spits out science techniques. Many people incorrectly believe that the arts have no place in the school curriculum. This essay shall argue against this idea, that schools should not remove the arts from their lesson plans.

The arts should not be removed from the student curriculum because they help develop a well-rounded student. When a student has a music practice whether personal or otherwise, their brain develops more than the average amount. A pianist has their left and right brain worked when they read two staves of music at the same time. Both of their hands work independent of each other to complement the musical arrangement. The feet can also be involved, moving in contrary motion to the hands. Add to that keeping in time by staying within a specific tempo and you have the makings of a very smart young person. More neural pathways as a result of having a music practice can mean greater all round intelligence not usually found in the average student. This level of smart is unique to musicians, and to remove this art among others from the school curriculum is to starve students of reaching their full potential.

In summary, the arts should not be removed from the school curriculum. Music in particular helps develop both sides of the brain more than usual and can lead a student to achieve their full potential in life.
